Good evening EVMA! Welcome to October! We covered a lot in this months meeting and below you will find we have scheduled out much of the rest of the year in terms of maintenance and group rides. We hope to see many of you at the upcoming events.
October is a busy month! The group ride on Saturday’s will be at freedom park. The Tidewater challenge is the last weekend of October (25th and 26th). Help is needed to clear trail and make sure it’s in good shape for the race, so Sundays will be dedicated to that, which means no official group rides will be scheduled for Sunday. On both the 25th and 26th we are asking for volunteers to work the table that EVMA will have set up. We will hold a membership drive and sell t-shirts, hats, pint glasses, and koozies. If you are willing to help out for an hour or 2, email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can get your name down. Or talk to any of our board members.
There is a camping trip this coming weekend at warrior creek. There are still available spots if you are interested in going. Check with Jim Irby or look on the EVMA facebook page for more details.
During November, group rides will be at freedom park on Saturday, and York river on Sunday. Saturday November 1st there will be trail maintenance at freedom park. There are several berms that need to be added along with a reroute. If you are willing to help, we will meet in the parking lot, typically at 9am but watch for more details later in the month. The club meeting will also be at freedom park on November 1st.
December group rides will be at new quarter park on Saturday and upper county on Sunday. On Sunday December 7th we will do trail maintenance at upper county. We would like clear up a lot of over growth so we could use anyone that would be willing to bring a chainsaw, weed eater, or brush cutter. Details will be forthcoming.
We are hoping to do some maintenance at warhani park in January and Harwood mills in February, but those are still being worked out.
Elections will be coming up in March. Sometime in the next 2 months we would like to form a nominating committee to help pull together any volunteers that would like to run for a position on the board. If you are interested in being part of the nominating committee, please let someone on the board know.
EVMA is working on having night rides again this fall/winter. We are still waiting on final permissions, but starting in November we are looking at Tuesday’s at harwood mills, Wednesday’s at New Quarter, and Thursday’s at Freedom. Most rides will meet at 6pm. You must have a light for the front of your bike, and please, no riding alone! Once we have permission and more details, we will let you know.
We would like to organize another Winter social, potentially on or around January 10th. If anyone has any ideas for a banquet hall or has access to somewhere such as Coventry club house or Edgehill club house, please let us know.
Our spring 2015 camping trip will officially be to Raystown lake. Reservations have been made for the first weekend in April 30-may 2nd. There are at least 8 tents/units with up to 16 wheeled units/30 tents. The following 2 links are to the campground and to the trail system. We have not created the event in wild apricot for payments yet, but we will let you know when that happens so you can start planning soon! http://www.allegrippistrails.com/
