EVENTS COMING UP
June 3rd – Group ride at 9 am at Freedom Park followed by lunch at 12 noon and EVMA meeting. If the weather is bad, plan on doing trail work instead of riding. Please plan to attend.
June 4th and 11th - Weekends on your Wheels Youth bike races at New Quarter Park. Registration 12:45 and races begin at 1:30 pm. Bring out the kids and have a great time. Race on the 11th will be followed by a pizza party and awards ceremony.
June 10th – Fundraiser bike ride at Beaverdam Park in Gloucester. Hope to have full details next week. Rides are usually in the evening. Please plan to bring a few dollars to donate to their trail fund. The park can be contacted at (804) 693-2107 if you are interested.
September 22-24 – Fall trip to Douthat State Park. The club will reserve 6 camp sites, and there can be 3 tents with 2 people per site. Each spot will be $25. If you have a larger tent, reserve 2 spots. If you plan to bring a camper, please reserve your own spot.
Volunteer Opportunities – The club runs on volunteers. EVMA always needs trail captains, ride leaders, board members, and club trip hosts. If you are able to help, contact Jim Irby.
EVMA Chatter – Riding is better with friends. If you plan to ride, post the information on the chatter page so others can join you.
EVMA gear – There is a plan to or some shirts and jerseys in the near future that will be available for purchase. If you want a specific size or color, let Jim know so we can get it for you. There are plenty of youth sized shirts and adult shirts in the smaller size that can be purchased now.
Trail Work Challenge - Also, if you are out riding, take a few minutes to pick up fallen branches or cut back a few of those face slappers. EVMA President Jim challenges everyone to spend 10-15 minutes of a future bike ride doing a little trail work. See the Chatter page for more information. Remember to report any downed trees to firstname.lastname@example.org or post on Facebook. Please include the park, trail, mile marker and a picture, if possible. Please don’t do any leaf blowing or major trail modifications without permission.
