EVENTS COMING UP
April 23rd – Group ride at New Quarter Park starting at 8:30 am. Check Facebook for more information. Go get some lunch then come back for the kid’s race.
April 23rd – Weekend of Your Wheels kid’s race at New Quarter Park. We had a great turnout at the first race and look forward to this weekend. Register at 12:45 and races begin at 1:30. Volunteers are needed to help with the race, as well as one or two club members to talk to attendees about EVMA.
April 27th- 30th – Wow! Next weekend is the spring trip to Raystown Lake in Pennsylvania. The cost will be $45 per tent/$55 per camper (food not included but we will be doing a potluck one night and Mexican night potluck another). If you haven’t signed up, there are still some slots available so register soon at http://evma.org/event-2463118.
May 6th – Next EVMA gathering. Group ride will be at York River State Park at 9am and possibly go to Alewerks afterwards for a beer. We are trying to gather information about a food truck. More information soon.
Wednesdays – A group of EVMA members are riding Wednesday evenings at 6pm at Gatewood in Newport News. Check EVMA chatter or just show up if you would like to ride.
All spring – When the pollen is not too thick or the weather crazy, spring is a great time to ride. If you are planning to ride, post when and where on EVMA chatter. Riding is more fun with a friend.
June 3rd – EVMA gathering at Freedom Park.
OTHER NOTES
Volunteer Opportunities – EVMA needs a few volunteers. If you are able to help, contact Jim Irby:
- 1. EVMA is looking for a host and ride leaders for the fall trip.
- 2. One or more volunteers are needed to represent EVMA at the Weekends on your Wheels races.
- 3. EVMA would like to host a kid’s ride (that is not a race) to get more children involved in mountain biking. We need some volunteers to help organize this.
- 4. The club runs on volunteers. EVMA always needs trail captains, ride leaders, board members, and club trip hosts.
Trail Work Challenge - Also, if you are out riding, take a few minutes to pick up fallen branches or cut back a few of those face slappers. EVMA President Jim challenges everyone to spend 10-15 minutes of a future bike ride doing a little trail work. See the Chatter page for more information. Remember to report any downed trees to president@evma.org or post on Facebook. Please include the park, trail, mile marker and a picture, if possible. Please don’t do any leaf blowing or major trail modifications without permission.
