EVENTS COMING UP
May 5, 2018 – Group ride and Dirt Divas ride at 9am at York River State Park (the last email said Freedom Park – that was incorrect) followed by monthly meeting and lunch at one of the shelters (not sure exactly which one yet).
Penny needs some help with food for lunch. It’s Cinco de Mayo so we are having a Mexican-themed lunch. Check out Facebook and sign up to bring something. Your help is greatly appreciated.
May 12, 2018 - Please join us for a trail work day at Freedom Park. Meet in the parking lot by 9:00 AM and we’ll try to be done around noon. Bring work gloves and water and prepare to ride into the worksite. We’ll provide the tools and work on an eroded, bumpy section, doing a small re-route and possibly some dirt moving to repair the trail and divert water flow. If you ride and enjoy the trails please consider pitching in to help maintain them. Never attended a work day before? No problem – just show up and we’ll walk you through it.
May 20, 2018 – Youth bike race a New Quarter Park. Registration is from 12:30 to 1pm; races start at 1:30pm. Bring out your children to join in the fun or just come out to cheer on these future racers. Please also consider helping with the fundraiser (see below).
OTHER NOTES
Raystown – Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and made the long drive to Raystown lake to enjoy some riding and visiting with friends. Thank you again to Justin and Eric who helped organize the event. Also, thank you to everyone who brought delicious food to share with the group. Mark your calendars to attend the same weekend next year!
EVMA/Weekend on Your Wheels Fundraiser - For the last few years EVMA has contributed to Weekend on Your Wheels to help pay for the season end celebration. This year the club and Colonial Revolutions have pledged $200. The opening day race at WOYW saw a record 84 racers show up. It was a great day. Crystal Dawn Richardson and Bryan Findley have done a tremendous job organizing the race.
The volunteers do a wonderful job helping out. EVMA would like to raise $500 for the season end celebration so we are asking for donations. If you would like to help, you can go to evma.org and click donate. When you do, click general fund and put Weekend on Your Wheels in the notes.
You can also mail a check to our corporate address: EVMA 116 Old Stage Road, Toano, VA 23168 or come out to New Quarter at the next race and drop a donation off at the registration table.
EVMA is a 501c3 charitable organization, all donations are tax deductible. We have had a few donations so far but still need more. Even a few bucks helps! Thank you.
Volunteers Still Needed – There are a number of board members who need to step down, so volunteers are needed for the club to continue. Please contact Mike Benton at president@evma.org if you can help in any way.
