EVENTS COMING UP

Fall trip to Douthat – September 21-23.  That area of the state is expecting to get a lot of rain so members of the club will be checking with the park a few days before and decide if the trip should be cancelled.  If the park is open, some members may still go even if the trails are closed.  More information to come soon.

Trail Work Cancelled – The Eagle Scout project at Wahrani scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled due to the weather. We will release details of the rescheduled event once we have them.

Coming Soon – Night rides will start after the clocks turn back, so start digging out and charging up your lights.  We can only ride in parks where we have permission and any other night riding is considered trespassing.  All night rides will have at least 2 people, everyone will sign in and stick together as a group.  More details coming soon.

OTHER NOTES

Hurricane and trails – We are expecting a lot of wind and rain in the next week.  When the weather clears, please be sure to pay attention to park closures and don’t ride on really wet trails.   When you can ride, do your part to pick up branches and small trees that fall on the trails.  If you come across large trees, report them on EVMA chatter or email trails@evma.org.  Be sure to include trail name, the closest mile marker and provide a picture if you can.

Colonial Revolution Team – Colonial Revolution team is still recruiting talented middle and high school riders for their team.  Visit www.colonialrevolutionmtb.org for more details.

Bike Maintenance Demo – REI is offering a free bike maintenance demo at Commonwealth Brewery on September 19th at 6 pm.  Visit www.REI.com/VirginiaBeach for more details.

Grant – EVMA recently received a grant from REI to purchase new tools/equipment.  The board is currently making some decisions on how to properly spend the money.

Volunteers Still Needed – Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to serve as board members.  We are still looking for ride leaders and people to help with various events.  Please contact Mike Benton at president@evma.org if you can help in any way.
