February 24  - Trail work day at Lake Maury/Gatewood starting at 9 am.  This has not been an EVMA trail in the past but we have been asked to take over the maintenance here.  The plan is to do some cleanup, map the trails and get some signs posted.  Right now, EVMA has no plans to change the trail unless the city of Newport News requires it.   This trail is really fun so come out and help get this trail in shape to ride.  Also, thank you to Chris Scales who has volunteered to be the trail captain for this trail.

Night Rides Tuesday and Thursday evenings – Night rides are on Tuesdays at Harwood’s Mill, Wednesdays at New Quarter and Thursdays at Freedom Park until time changes.  The group will leave at 6 pm sharp so please arrive by 5:45 pm.  Every rider must be out of the park by 8 pm.

Please remember, stay with the group.  No single riders at night.  Dress for the weather.  Two lights are recommended for all riders.  All riders must sign in and parking passes are required at some parks.  Be safe and have fun!

DO NOT ride in parks at night unless there in a scheduled, authorized ride.  Riding in parks after hours is trespassing and could cost you a fine and a trip to court.

Freedom Park -James City County is looking to do more events at Freedom Park in the next couple of years.  If you have some ideas, please bring them to the attention of the club.

REI Grant – EVMA has used all of the Grant money given by REI.  We purchased a trailer and a number of tools to help with future trail work.  Thanks to everyone who helped with this process and REI for their generous grant.

REI CEO change – Because of our partnership with REI, we were informed that the CEO stepped down this week.  Read more at https://www.rei.com/blog/rei-news/jerry-stritzke-resigns-as-rei-ceo-eric-artz-named-interim-ceo
