Join Wahrani Trail Captain Mike Benton to help build a short reroute on an increasingly eroding climb form the bottom of Loggers Ridge to almost the top of Slingshot.  We'll bring the tools and we can walk in from the parking lot (a pretty short walk).  We'll try to squeeze in a ride afterwards.

Charge up your lights, or support your local bike shop to buy some.

    • All night rides are GROUP RIDES for current EVMA members as agreed to with the parks.  The parks are only open for our groups to ride together; no solo riding.
    • Starting November 4 through March 5, 2026.  Tuesdays @ Harwoods Mill; Wednesdays @ New Quarter Park; Thursday @ Freedom Park.
    • All rides start at 6:00 PM sharp, so get there early to sign in and gear up.  We’ll be off the trails by 7:45 and all cars gone by 8:00 PM.
    • Rides are weather dependent.  If weather and/or trail conditions are questionable, we’ll communicate by e-mails and by posting on EVMA.org.  Always check one or both before the ride.
    • New to night riding and have questions?  Reply to one of the EVMA weekly e-mails and we’ll square you away.  Let us know what you need to know.  We’re glad to help.
    • Thanks to Newport News, York County, and James City County P&R for allowing these!

We had some reports of multiple trees down at Freedom trail A & B, all reported to be hand-sawable.  So let's ride and saw trees (we'll have a saw, but feel free to bring a hand saw if you want) Saturday at 9:30 AM at Freedom Park, meeting in the small parking lot by the log cabins & Bunny Trail.  We'll ride A & B, saw out the trees, and go from there.

Join us for a group ride at the hilliest trail system in SE Virginia.  Wahrani Nature Trail, 17485 Eltham Rd.  Let's try to start riding at 9:30 AM.

This is a warm-up for the Raystown trip next week, and a great chance to learn your way around if you haven’t ridden here before.

Saturday, Aug 23, Pocahontas State Park, 10:00 AM wheels rolling time. Meet in the big parking lot by the pool BEFORE 10:00 AM so we can get rolling on the Swift Creek trails (flow trails).  Expect ~20 miles, with plenty of stops/regroups/socializing.  These machine-built trails are super-fun, so if you haven’t tried them yet, come join us during some unseasonably mild August weather (high in low 80s!).  *Assuming that Hurricane Erin doesn’t turn towards us

Try riding in reverse direction (clockwise) on Marl Ravine trail at York River State Park starting Saturday, July 19 through Sunday, Aug 31.  The trailhead & end will have temporary signage.  Last time we did this was..…we can’t remember exactly.  It’s been a minute, as the kids say.  MR backwards is like a whole different trail.  Some parts are tough, other parts are fun.  Give it a try for something different.  We’ll see about a group ride there sometime.

Join us for a group ride on Marl Ravine trail while it's running reverse direction.  We'll see what anybody feels like riding after that.  Meet in the parking lot just past the pay station.
